HOW TO UPGRADE FROM ANDROID 2.3.6 TO 4.0.

How to Upgrade from Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread to 4.0 Gingerbread.

Before we continue, let's take a little look at the meaning of Android.

Android is a Linux-based operating system designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as Smartphones and tablet computers. Initially developed by Android, Inc., which Google backed financially and later bought in 2005, Android was unveiled in 2007 along with the founding of the Open Handset Alliance: a consortium of hardware, software, and telecommunication companies devoted to advancing open standards for mobile devices. The first Android-powered phone was sold in October 2008.

As we have seen what Android is all about, let's proceed to our main topic.

You can only upgrade to a higher version of Android if your phone supports the upgrade. Few lower versions of Android may require ROOTING before they can be upgraded. So if you cannot do the below steps on your phone, then you think of rooting your phone which I am going to post the steps in my next post. But before that time, let's see how you can upgrade your Android phone.

You can upgrade your phone by following the steps given below:

Step 1: Go to settings > About Device  > Software Update

Step 2: Select Update

Step 3: It asks "check for software update"

Step 4: Press OK

Step 5: Wait for your device to connect to server

Step 6: It will ask "download new update"

Step 7: Select download

Step 8: Wait for download

Step 9: Select install

Step 10: Wait for install to complete

Step 11: After the updates has been installed, it will display a message "Device successfully updated"

Step 12: You are done with the updates.
