HOW TO REDUCE BLOGGER'S FEED SIZE BELOW 512K LIMIT.

Few of us know what we call blogger or Web feed while some don't know it, but don't worry I will briefly discuss what Blogger Feed is all about before proceeding to our main topic.

A web feed (or news feed) is a data format used for providing users with frequently updated content. Content distributors syndicate a web feed, thereby allowing users to subscribe to it. Making a collection of web feeds accessible in one spot is known as aggregation, which is performed by an aggregator. A web feed is also sometimes referred to as a syndicated feed.

A typical scenario of web feed use is: a content provider publishes a feed link on their site which end users can register with an aggregator program (also called a feed reader or a news reader) running on their own machines; doing this is usually as simple as dragging the link from the web browser to the aggregator. When instructed, the aggregator asks all the servers in its feed list if they have new content; if so, the aggregator either makes a note of the new content or downloads it. Aggregators can be scheduled to check for new content periodically.

Now we have known what is called Web Feed which is the same as Blogger Feed. We can now proceed to our main topic.

For a FeedBurner to process feed from any blog, it must not be greater than 512K in size, i.e. the title of your blog. (This limitation only applies to the actual size of the feed file itself and does not include any images or media files you may have linked to or embedded in your posts.) To get a feed larger than 512K back down to size on Blogger, you need to add a parameter to the address for your original feed's URL — the one that FeedBurner checks for updates in order to keep your FeedBurner feed current — that tells Blogger to shorten it to a specific number of posts.
To do this, kindly follow these steps:
  1. Sign in to your FeedBurner account.
  2. Click the title of your FeedBurner feed on the My Feeds page.
  3. On the feed management page that appears, click the Edit Feed Details linked just below your feed's title.
  4. In the Original Feed Address field, change the address listed there from an example like the following:
Code:
http://myblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml
OR
http://myblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
  1. To the following format:
Code:
http://myblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?max-results=3
  1. (Note that max-results sets the number of posts you want to have appear in your FeedBurner feed. Any integer value between 1 and 500 is permitted.)
  2. Click Save Feed Details. Your changes are immediately applied and FeedBurner re-burns the newly shortened (or lengthened) feed.
  3. Sign out. You are done.
  4.
