What Is TRCN?
TRCN stands for the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria. It is a regulatory body established by the Nigerian government to oversee the registration, licensing, and regulation of teachers in Nigeria. The council was established under the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria Act No. 31 of 1993 and is responsible for ensuring professionalism and quality in the teaching profession.
All teachers are now required to write and pass the TRCN Professional Qualifying Examination and register with the agency before he/she can practice teaching in Nigeria. TRCN sets and enforces standards for teacher education programs in Nigeria. It works closely with educational institutions to ensure that the programs meet the required quality standards.
How Can I Apply For TRCN Exam?
Here’s a step-by-step process of how to apply for the TRCN exam:
- Choose any of the TRCN exam categories
- Visit the TRCN website trcn.gov.ng to generate a RRR (TSA) remitta with your accurate full name, active email address, and phone number.
- Make your payment online or at the bank.
- Print/get a confirmation slip ( proof of payment from the bank or online or email)
- Proceed now to the closest TRCN OFFICE with Credentials photocopies, 2 passports, and a bank teller of payment printout.
Only the candidates that successfully passed the examination will be eligible to register for the certificate. So I strongly recommend you prepare for the TRCN exam using our Study Material.
TRCN Registration Documents
You are to tender the following documents:
- 2 recent passports,
- Photocopies each of Certificate,
- Birth certificate/Affidavit,
- State/LGA of Origin certificate and
- SSCE/NECO certificate
How Much Does It Cost To Apply For The TRCN Exam?
The cost for the TRCN exam varies per category. Let’s take a look at the various TRCN registration categories
- Category ‘A’ (Ph.D holders in Education or with Education qualification): ₦5,000
- Category ‘B’ (Masters in Education or Masters in other fields with Education qualification): ₦4,000
- Category ‘C’ (Degree in Education or Degree in other fields with Education qualification): ₦3,500
- Category ‘D’ (NCE ): ₦3,000
That the exam fee does not cover the cost of Registration. Candidates who passed the examination will still pay a registration fee for eventual registration as professional teachers.
Cost of TRCN Membership Registration
PQE Successful Candidates are to Visit any of TRCN Offices close to them with your teller and they will issued a cash receipt to enable you process your registration.
